We work across skin care, hair care, body care, fragrance, color cosmetics, and wellness supplements. We also write for indie brands, prestige brands, and clinical or pharmaceutical beauty products. For some categories, like SPF claims or drug/cosmetic dual-classification products, we ask for your compliance review before finalizing.
A product brief for each SKU including key ingredients, finished formula characteristics (texture, scent, feel), target claim areas, any certifications (clean, vegan, cruelty-free, etc.), the intended channel (Sephora, Ulta, DTC, specialty), and the target customer profile. If you have existing copy you hate, send that too. It tells us exactly what to avoid.
We do not make drug claims or structure-function claims without a clear note from your team that they have been reviewed by a qualified regulatory person. We flag anything that might need compliance review before including it. We work frequently with brands that have compliance teams or external regulatory consultants.
Yes. We've written for indie brands with limited budgets and prestige brands with detailed brand bibles. The process adjusts based on where the brand is, but the research phase applies in both cases. An indie brand with a clear founder story and strong product often needs more voice development. A prestige brand often needs more constraint to avoid going off-brand.
Yes. We write for Sephora, Ulta, Target, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, and specialty retailers. Each has specific character limits, formatting requirements, and prohibited claims. We research your retailer's requirements before writing if we don't already know them from previous projects.
We write in American English and Canadian English. For copy adaptation to other languages, we can provide the source copy and work with your translation partner. We do not provide translation ourselves, but we write source copy that translates cleanly without colloquialisms that cause problems.
For a 25-SKU batch in standard delivery, typically 14-21 business days from receipt of complete briefs. Rush delivery compresses this by approximately 50%. For larger catalogs or very complex products (fragrance, color cosmetics, clinical claims), we always confirm the timeline before starting.
Yes. We routinely sign standard NDAs for beauty clients working on unreleased products, acquisition candidates, or proprietary formulations. Send your NDA before the project starts and we will review and sign within one business day.
